Berlin Bowie lowdown

Who could resist a David Bowie tour of Berlin? I certainly couldn’t!
Ziggy Stardust came here in 1976 to try to clean himself up from drugs, drink and various medications, away from the glare of LA publicity. While in the city, he was able to live an anonymous existence, cycle around the streets unaccosted, and embark on a whole new stage of his career — recording albums Low, Heroes and preparing the third in the trilogy Lodger — and exploring a series of new personas for himself.
To visit his recording studios, see where he lived, find out his Berlin influences, go to his favourite cafe … and discover what an important role he played in the subsequent tearing down of the notorious Berlin Wall was just an incredible experience.  And to listen to Heroes in the place near the wall the song was set was like being sprinkled with stardust. Hail Bowie!
