Dropping into Limoges for a few days was such a surprise. With some areas of the town dating back to the 13th Century, particularly around the old butchers’ sector, history is everywhere you look. And all those wooden beams on the outside of buildings – they’re all very real. Some of the old butchers’ shops even have the shelf outside where meat used to be displayed and many are now being used as bookshops, toy shops, art galleries … everything you can think of. An absolutely beautiful part of the world, and one that doesn’t receive anything like the attention it deserves.
