So excited for the release of my next book – The Governor, His Wife and His Mistress – on January 7. It’s the story of Australia’s third governor, Philip Gidley King, his trials and triumphs and his incredibly tangled love life. In preparation for the occasion, I went and had a celebratory lunch at The Gidley restaurant in the Sydney CBD, together with a descendant of the great man himself, the historian Jonathan King. It was a fun time — even though the restaurant specialises in steak, and neither of us eats meat!
