My favourite hack for anyone who has deadlines but has to travel. A lap tray usually used for TV dinners becomes the perfect desk on a train, a bus, a coach, a plane (unless you’re travelling business class, of course!) or in a car (where you’re not the driver…) Light, stable and extremely portable… It’s a godsend when you really have a lot to do. So much of my latest novel The Governor, His Wife and His Mistress was written on this! Little inconvenience compared to struggling to survive on the First Fleet!
