Honoured to be the guest speaker at the Women’s Pioneer Society event this week at the Royal Automobile Club of Australia on Macquarie Street last week. Gorgeous to be in such an historic building, surrounded by paintings of the First Fleet and Australia in colonial days. But even more thrilled to be shown the actual desk that belonged to the third governor Philip Gidley King, at which he wrote his journal every day, which gave me so much material for my latest historical novel. I had no idea it was there! Another hidden treasure.
