I’ve always wanted to go on the Zig Zag Railway at Lithgow, built between 1866 and 1869, climbing the west side of the Blue Mountains, using a series of dramatic switchbacks to gain height. Powered by heritage steam locomotives, it’s a wonderful ride back into the past and traverses some fabulous scenery. Now staffed by volunteers, it’s open every day, so book a trip and experience the romance of steam train travel. It’s a blast!#zigzagrailway
