Fabulous to be invited to the inaugural mash-up of the Hornsby Library Meet the Author event, and a meeting of the local family history group, to talk about former Governor Gidley King and his women and colonial troubles. A huge turn-out which took me aback! But so great to see, and feel the enthusiasm for our history in the room. And as a reminder of how close that late 18th Century and early 19th Century period is, one woman was a descendant of a gardener who worked for King, and another had a chest that he had made for himself. It all brings the past alive!
