One day we visit a colourful village, Lisboa Town, on the banks of the Peruvian Amazon, meeting the children, admiring the murals on the buildings and taking a peek at the simple houses with hammocks for sleeping. I can’t imagine what life would be like living somewhere as remote as this, but locals seem very happy and friendly. It’s a thrill to see their local wildlife too — huge pods of rare endangered pink dolphins! They’re impossible to catch in a photo, though, (well, for me) as they don’t leap out of the water like grey dolphins, they just kind of roll. But what fascinating creatures. They can grow as big as 2.7 metres, and have 40 per cent more brain capacity than humans. Who would ever have thought?
